Inspiration Life Nature The Great Sand Dunes National Park By kerrygleason 4 years ago Facebook0Tweet0LinkedIn0Email0 A portion of the Great Sand Dunes, dwarfed by the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. All photos copyright 2020 by Kerry Gleason, Inspiration Point Productions. Restrooms closed. Panic. Where’s my lunch? The dunes, which are ever changing. Those little dark specks are people. Turning back. Before long, the wind will erase my footsteps. A magpie with brilliant blue feathers plots his assault on my picnic lunch. His pal perched on the wheel rims of my Jeep and started pecking on my tire. Birdbrain. A hawk. Breakfast doesn’t deliver itself. Shadows on the dunes. Sunset over the Great Sand Dunes National Park. Wind writing on the sand. We are tiny. Self portrait to prove I was there. The Rocky Road to Zapata Falls. Recommendation: don’t drive with an open cup of Gatorade. This is a bone-jarring ride. Mt. Blanca from the Alamosa Wildlife Preserve.
